My name is Samantha, and I have been creating art for as long as I can remember. As a child, I spent hours making watercolor paintings at my parents’ kitchen table and experimenting with digital drawings on the family computer in Windows Paint. Those early creative experiences, along with the encouragement of enthusiastic and supportive art teachers, shaped my passion for both art and education.

Today, I teach art to grades K–8, where I strive to inspire my students in the same way my teachers once inspired me. I aim to create meaningful work that explores emotion, curiosity, and creativity, while encouraging young artists to find confidence in their own ideas and abilities.

Outside the classroom, I stay busy in a variety of ways. I work at Coppin’s in Hotel Covington as an expo, helping ensure every dish leaves the kitchen at its best. I am also an active roller derby skater and enjoy training both my body and mind for the sport through regular practice and time at the gym.

A quote I often return to is, “You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make them drink.” This idea reflects both my approach to teaching and my outlook on life: help others when you can, recognize for yourself when support is needed, and trust that growth ultimately comes from within.
